2013/2014 NYE events in Amsterdam
The Oosterdok area is once again the location for the city’s official celebrations, with the VOC Ship The Amsterdam and the Scheepvaartmuseum forming the backdrop for a spectacular New Year’s Eve event. Bringing the Amsterdam 2013 festivities to a spectacular finale, the event will see visitors welcome in the new year in fine voice with the New Year’s Eve Singalong before fireworks illuminate the night sky over the River IJ. 23:00, free entrance.
A beach sports location by day, The Sand morphs into a major player on Amsterdam’s nightlife scene after dark. Their Secret Affair NYE line-up is set to include a host of international and home-grown talent. 22:00 - 05:30, tickets: €25 (early bird), €39.50 (standard).
Billed as the largest and most bizarre New Year’s rave ever, Q-dance presents theFreaqshow at the Ziggo Dome. This twisted NYE celebration promises a night of hard-style tunes, plenty of freaky live shows and raucous entertainment. 20:00 - late, tickets: €60 (standard), €77.50 (VIP).
Calling all Charlie Chaplins, Marlene Dietrichs, gangsters and divas! The Charleston with a Twist New Year’s Eve Party at Amsterdam’s KHL Café proves that the 1920s are still as roaring as ever. Get your glad rags on and head along for a glamorous jazzy affair with live music, dancing and performances. 21:00 - 04:00, tickets: €33.
As the organisers of the country's largest techno event, Awakenings is an institution in the Netherlands. Usher in the new year at the Awakenings New Year’s Eve Special at the Gashouder (Westergasfabriek), featuring an international DJ line-up and the traditional indoor fireworks display! 20:00 - 06:00, tickets: €47.50.

Riding on the wave of success after their ADE event, glamorous house lovers Hed Kandi return to the city for a Hed Kandi New Year’s Eve special. Spread across all 6 rooms of Amsterdam’s Felix Meritis, Lloyd-Arcadi returns with their themed take on New Year’s celebrations and this year it’s time for Cuba Libre NYE! Get in character as you are transported back to pre-revolutionary Havana for a thrilling combination of Tropicana, underground club exuberance, flirtatious salsa and naturally, Buena Vista Social Club vibes. 21:30 - 05:30, tickets: €65.
Apenkooi (Monkey Cage) whisks you off to the tropics for their New Year's Eve event this year, taking over Westerunie with their Club Tropicana event. Grab your most colourful outfit and head along for a summery blend of cocktails and sunshine tunes. 22:00 - 06:00, tickets: €40 (early flamingo).
This year, ENCORE takes control at the Melkweg for the ENCORE New Year’s Eve Special. The popular club night brings the year to a close spinning the best hip-hop and R&B tunes, expect the whole spectrum from dubstep to dancehall and moombahton. 22:00 - late, tickets: €25 (early bird), €35 (standard).
Bring a touch of Vegas glamour to your New Year’s celebrations as F*cking Pop Queers descend on the Paradiso with their Fabulous Extra Large Las Vegas NYE! The FPQXL DJ team will be on hand with the tunes, there’ll be midnight bubbles, the Glittering Ultradisko Spectacle and plenty more.
